The story of Ruth and Naomi is often one that is overlooked when it comes to children. However, it is such a poignant look at friendship in the Bible as well as brotherly love. Selflessness is woven throughout the story. In addition we see God’s love and provision for both Ruth and Naomi.

Instructions:
Allow your children to observe what friendship looks like. Ask them what they notice in the pictures ( examples: smiles, people hugging, helping each other ect.)

Naomi leaves everything she has in order to accompany Ruth on a cross country trip and likewise, Ruth is willing to work in the wheat fields in order to provide for them both.
At the end of the story children will be able to understand the meaning of friendship. Furthermore, they will understand that loving your neighbor means putting yourself last at times. Being a friend is obedience to God and He wants us to love others before ourselves. This is a perfect lesson for toddlers in particular because they are learning how to love others, even when they don’t want to.

Items Needed:
Elastic String
Masking Tape
Beads ( use beads with larger holes for smaller kids)
Steps:
Using the masking tape, attach one end of the elastic to a table or hard surface.
String the Beads
Make a bracelet by securing both ends using a double knot.
