Inexpensive Makeup for Sensitive Skin

Firstly, the quest for makeup can be quite a challenge especially if you don’t have the perfect skin composition. My skin profile in a nutshell is eczema ridden, acne prone, and easily scarred.  In fact one could look at me the wrong way and I would be scared, literally. To no avail I have tried a plethora of makeup to cover, and even out my skin tone. From the cheaper end of the spectrum all the way to the tre magnifique’ nothing quite did what I hoped for.

At least that was the case until now. Quality makeup on a budget was an oxymoron until very recently. Now some makeup brands are considering the differences in their clientele from budget to ethnicity. Different skin types, and tones need different things, and this shift in perspective is way overdue. These following six products, I carry with me in my makeup bag. They work for my skin profile, and the colors compliment my skin tone as well.

Mascara

A clean mascara is perfect for sensitive eyes, as well as for contact wearers. This formula is thick enough to enhance your lash length. It doesn’t run, yet removes with ease when using a makeup wipe.

This pressed powder is amongst my favorites of all time. The coverage is sufficient without feeling like you have spackle on your face. The Tan shade offers even coverage and actually matches my skin tone without looking chalky.  With traditional foundations I break out within a few hours of application. However, that is not the case with this makeup, it stays in place all day and hasn’t produced any breakouts even on really hot days. It is part of Covergirl’s vegan makeup line and I can tell a difference with how it interacts with my skin.

Eyeshadow

Since the eyes are the window to the soul it makes sense that you highlight them accordingly. The eyeshadow palette in Truffle is a perfect collection of buildable colors for the sultry smokey eye. In the past I have had trouble with eyeshadow just melting away. I can wear this all day and it looks the same as it did when I put it on. I especially appreciate that e.l.f products are vegan and cruelty free, yet the price remains low ($3.00 to be exact.)

Lip Stain:

Revlon Color Stay in Endless Spice

My friend actually introduced me to this lip stain. Everytime we get together she always looks so put together and she always has lipstick on. It doesn’t matter if we eat or sip tea, it is always there. Enter Revlon Color Stay, her best kept secret, until now. The Endless spice is a blushing rose color and works well with brown skin. The package does state that it stays on for 16 hours ,  but that hasn’t been the case for me. Though in fairness I live in a really dry climate which translates to dry lips. As a result,  it fades  after about 7 hours, but still that’s pretty impressive.

Bronzer/ Blush

e.l.f. Blush and Bronzer Duo in St. Lucia

If you are looking for that just stepped off the beach, sun kissed look, then this duo is for you. The colors are beautiful and do a nice job of highlighting the cheek bones. Again this is vegan and cruelty free and is about $5.00. It works well on top of face powder or on its own.

Lip Liner

NYX lipliner goes on smoothly and lasts a long time. I especially like the color Coffee, it’s a brownish nude color that pairs well with many different lipstick shades. It holds the line well, and gives nice definition to the lips.
