Interestingly, thestory of Moses is a unique old Testament story as we get to see his life unfold from infancy. In other stories we enter the scene when our character is later on in years. Therefore, kids may be able to identify with Moses more easily. Furthermore, Moses was adopted, and grew up in a home and culture that wasn’t his own.  From Moses we will study  how to overcome adversity and how to love God with our hearts, soul, mind and strength.

Moses: The Bible for Kids

Moses The Story :

The Story : Kids will learn that Moses was placed in a river by his mother in a basket in order to protect him. Be sure to mention that Moses was an Israelite and they were slaves( owned workers)  of the  Eygptians. Explain that being a slave involved a lot of work and made the Hebrews very sad.

Because Moses’ mom wanted him to be safe from bad people  she put in the basket and asked God to save him. When Pharaoh’s daughter was by the water she found the baby and took him home so she could take care of him (adoption). Moses lived in Egypt for many years but he didn’t like seeing the slaves being so unhappy.

Fast Forward:

Moses eventually leaves Egypt because God has big plans for him. God wants Moses to help the Israelites leave Egypt. But in order to do that Moses has to be willing to listen to God.

The Burning Bush:

Obviously. God wanted to get  Moses’ attention so while he was out walking a bush caught on fire… but it didn’t burn up.  Even more, God asked Moses to take off his shoes and you know what? Moses was obedient and took off his shoes. Consequently, he was standing on Holy Ground and God was ready to share his big plan with Moses. Moses is showing us how to love God with all our heart, souls, mind and strength. So if God asks you to do something as simple as taking off your shoes, then do it! From that burning bush Moses was able to hear God’s voice.
