Bible Lessons for Kids: Moses
Affiliate Disclosure: Website: This post contains affiliate links. Interestingly, thestory of Moses is a unique old Testament story as we get to see his life unfold from infancy. In other stories we enter the scene when our character is later on in years. Therefore, kids may be able to identify with Moses more easily. Furthermore, Moses was adopted, and grew up in a home and culture that wasn’t his own. From Moses we will study how to overcome adversity and how to love God with our hearts, soul, mind and strength. Noah: Bible Lesson for Kids
Affiliate Disclosure: Website: This post contains affiliate links. My kids and I recently finished Vacation Bible School at our church. I had the privilege of leading the Arts and Craft rotation for children ages 4 years old to 11 years old. Though at first glance the story of Noah’s Ark seems very bleak, in all actuality it is a beautiful picture of God’s faithfulness and mercy. Major takeaways for the week were that God deeply wants His people to live a life of righteousness. Moreover, God uses every good and bad thing in our lives for our benefit, and the cross covers it all. The Lesson in Noah’s Ark :…

Naturally with a temperature of 3 degrees, and snow fall my restless toddlers wanted to go outside. When this mama adamantly denied their venture outside , I needed to make life inside more entertaining and appealing el pronto. An Easy Game for Teaching Toddlers Colors: With soup warmly cooking away in the crockpot, I decided to concoct a soup the kids could play with. As we gathered a large stock pot, ladles, foam blocks the learning and engagement went…

How to Bless Your Children
Just recently my friend Carrie and I got together to craft vision boards. After many months of Pandemic fears, isolation and monotony we craved some fresh ideas and hope for the New Year. We sat cutting and flipping through magazines. With our babes playing at our feet, while cups of tea soothed our tired mama souls. Bless Your Child with Words: Occasionally, we would laugh or read encouraging words out loud. At times we would quickly turn past a challenge that conviction would quickly draw us back to. Naturally, each picture and word encompassed a new hope, a new direction or goal for ourselves and our families. I have always…

Important Life Lessons to Teach Your Children
My mum died of cancer ten years ago today. Instead of being sad, I wanted to celebrate the incredible woman she was. She lived a life worth remembering. This post, and this blog in its entirety is dedicated to my mum Marie Shouse. Thank you for helping me become the mom and person I am today. Without you, I would have been an empty vessel without direction or purpose. The Power in Staying My mum wasn’t a superhero, though at times I do have to remind myself she was a mere mortal. But her super power was her choice, her choice to be a single parent. But even more so,…

Grace in Parenting
Grace in Unexpected Places: “ Mirror, mirror on the wall who’s the fairest one of all?” (Walt Disney Productions, 1937) Many of us remember this phrase from the iconic Disney movie Snow White. What the evil queen didn’t realize is that she was so obsessed with her own reflection that she forgot to stop and ponder what Snow White and the members of her kingdom perceived. Her power and beauty would have been found in those around her, not in the mirror that only considered her face value beauty. Ungraceful Parenting Reflected: Undoubtedly, I saw this analogy unfold in my own life recently… We often find it cute or endearing…

Potty Training Your Toddler
Potty Training isn’t One Size Fits All: Let me begin by stating that I am not an expert in potty training, I am a teacher and a mom and these are the things that worked for me and my family. We tried The Oh Crap We Are Potty Training Method, but it didn’t work for us. Now before you start yelling at me through the computer screen, I know this method has proven successful for many families, just not mine. In parenting it is really easy to fall into the comparison trap but by doing that we rob ourselves of testing strategies and learning what works best for us. Timing…

10 Bible Verse to Declare Over Your Children
10 Bible Verses to Pray for Your Children: Recently, I embarked upon the Elijah: Faith and Fire bible study by Priscilla Shirer. As always it was full of biblical truths and lessons to live by. In one of her teaching videos she mentioned that she spoke scripture over her sons. This is a practice she has carried since they were very little. My initial reaction was “huh,” followed by a “duh” and in the same breath “oh!” In my quiet times I search for verses that speak to me and build me up.My highlighted bible is testament to that. So, why on earth would I not seek verses to speak…

Finding Joy in Parenting
My daughter Rose has always had trouble sleeping through the night. We have tried a plethora of remedies, chamomile tea, warm milk, lavender massage. Sound machines, weighted blankets, pre-bedtime baths, anything that would afford us restful sleep. To no avail, nothing has proven effective. Our household has experienced many restless nights followed by many grouchy days. After one of those difficult nights I awoke feeling completely defeated. I had already begun to sprout fangs as I am rather beastly when sleep deprived. If I had been given three peaceful minutes alone to stand upright I would have fallen asleep on the spot. However, my kids on the other hand awoke…
